Collection: Joseph Catalano

Joseph Catalano is a Toronto-based photographer and visual artist studying at OCAD University. Joseph's artistic philosophy is that nothing is more captivating than our unaltered environment and everyday surroundings. Through his artwork, Joseph aims to document and preserve the emotional sentiment of what he encounters in his day-to-day life. The artist primarily works with analog image-making processes, such as 35mm film, and also cameraless photography or "photograms". In his most personal work, the "Digital Scrapbook" series, Joseph incorporates collage and found objects alongside photos of his everyday life to create a diaristic chronology of the ongoing, ever-changing chapters of his life. Capturing these elements in his work fuels his devotion to his artistic practice.
